Things to do in Medway
Medway has a wide variety of places to go and things to do so we created this website to help people find out about everything as it is easy to live in Medway for years and not be aware of them. We especially wanted to help promote events in the towns that you may not find elsewhere.
Places to Visit
If you’re looking for places to visit, we have information on that too. For example, you can read more about Chatham Dockyard, Rochester Cathedral, Rochester Castle and Riverside Country Park. There are many other famous sites in Medway to visit and we will be continuing to update this website so check back here as well as our Twitter and Facebook pages.
Questions About Medway
We also provide information on this website that answers questions that people have in relation to Medway such as the days and times on which boot fairs take place, what to do in Medway when it’s raining and where to go running and swimming. If you have any specific questions that you would like us to answer in relation to Medway, please feel free to get in touch.
There are a number of high streets in the Medway towns and each of them have their own individual characteristics. We have written guides on Chatham, Rochester and Gillingham high streets. There are also various other places that you can go to for shopping such as Rainham and Strood high streets, Hempstead Valley and dockside in Chatham.
People love to visit and sell at boot fairs in Medway so we have guides on which ones you can go to such as Greenfields, Westmoor and Hempstead. Boot fairs are popular as they are a great way to get rid of things that you no longer need whilst at the same time making some money as well as getting to chat with other people. If you’re a buyer, you can pick up bargains that you wouldn’t otherwise find in the shops. If you’re going to be selling, check out our guide on the things that you need to take with you.
Rochester library is located within Rochester Community Hub which is just off the high street on Eastgate (post code is ME1 1EW) and has books to borrow, computer and internet access (as well as free Wi-Fi), disabled access and photocopying facilities. The library opened in this location in 2006.
At the Weekend
There are various things that you can spend your time doing at the weekend such as going for walks, indoor activities such as swimming, boot fairs and markets, visiting one of the various high streets and shopping centres, going out for dinner at a restaurant, watching a film at the cinema or visiting some of the major tourist attractions such as Chatham Dockyard or Rochester Cathedral. We will be adding more specific weekend activity ideas to this website over time too.
