Chatham High Street

Chatham High Street contains more than 300 shops most of which are big brand names such as Primark, Debenhams and Sports Direct. The variety of stores allows you to peruse through a number of different types of shops from florists, jewellers and bookshops to toy stores, pet shops and chemists.

The Pentagon, located in the middle of the high street, is an indoor shopping centre, which not only holds a range of different shops but is also the home of restaurants, cafes and a bowling alley with its own bar and entertainment space. It’s also an incredibly convenient place to park if you want to explore the town.

The High Street is also home to the Central Theatre; a popular place for famous comedians and musicians to put on shows as well as being host to other events such as film screenings and plays. The theatre seats over 900 and is well established in the local area. It is partnered with the Brook Theatre, situated just off the High Street in the building that was once Chatham Town Hall. This theatre is close to Gillingham and offers smaller productions the chance to make it big with regular community shows, its very own comedy club and showcase evenings.

There is easy access to the town centre via buses behind the Pentagon and with Chatham being between both Rochester and Gillingham, there is little effort to hop between them.
